Chael Sonnen Reveals Hulk Hogan’s Humiliation While Twisting Colby Covington
On December 14, 2024, the final UFC event of the year took place in Tampa, Florida. In the main eventJoaquin Buckley furthered his status as a welterweight contender with a third-round TKO (doctor’s stoppage) vs. Colby Covington.
One of the biggest takeaways from the fight was Covington’s retirement. The former interim UFC champion walked away with Hulk Hogan and Chael Sonnen, which attracted quite a bit of attention from fans.
During an episode of Good / BadSonnen revealed Hogan’s humility backstage before the exit:
“It was cool, it was Hulk Hogan… The first thing Colby said to him was, ‘When the camera rolls, Hulk, I wanted you with the American flag… I’m coming out behind you.’ And Hulk cut off and said, “Colby, I’m a guest in your house, you go first, I’ve got your back… I won’t have it any other way.” And that was his attitude from the start and he was more than welcome in that locker room.”
Colby Covington’s loss to Joaquin Buckley was his only fight in 2023. The 36-year-old is looking to bounce back in 2025 and potentially secure his first UFC win since defeating Jorge Masvidal via unanimous decision in March 2022.
