“Playoff football is the most meaningful football you will ever play in your life,” he said in a video on the Chiefs’ Instagram account. “I cherish every piece, man. Really and truly. When you play in it, you always try to strive for greatness.

“Being bigger than what you are. You know, there’s obviously a historic streak and something that we can accomplish that no other team has ever accomplished. You know, that gives you energy.”

Kelce admitted on the podcast that he would “reevaluate” some things this offseason.

“I love everything I do in this building, but at the end of the day, I don’t have as extreme success on the field as I do individually,” Kelce told Smith. “…I’ll reevaluate it like I always do, and I’ll probably tell myself how much I love this thing, and I’ll come back next year.

“I still like to come into the building every day, is it going to be tough, yes, but I don’t do it for the statistics. I do it for the greatness, the legacy that we’ve created here in Kansas City,” he added “…I can’t imagine what it would feel like just to be able to say I’m satisfied because I’m still hungry to go get something right now.”

Kelce faced all kinds of criticism throughout the season, with accusations flying around him that he was washed up spending too much time with his girlfriend Taylor Swift. He still managed to have 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games.

Even at 35, Kelce was healthy all season, only missing Week 18 when the Chiefs decided to rest their starters after already coming off a bye week. With the smell of retirement in the air as the season entered its final stages, Kelce was asked if Swift had any idea he would call it a career.
