Nick Viall weighs down Justin Baldoni and To Blake Lively an ongoing legal sagasharing your own opinion about It ends with us director.

The Bachelor star said Bustle in a profile published on Thursday, January 16, he “wasn’t that surprised” by the cast of It ends with us distanced themselves from Baldoni, 40, as legal issues arose between him and Lively, 37.

“I had the chance to interview Justin a few years ago on my show, and I just felt like he wasn’t the guy that he was so hyped up to be,” Viall, 44, told Bustle. “When I heard that the entire cast and the author of the book (on which the film is based) had clearly distanced themselves from him, I wasn’t that surprised. However, I was surprised at how quickly the internet seemed to start trying to find reasons to discredit Blake by bringing up old interviews and past alleged mistakes.

He added: “I think the internet has made it easier for people to share other people’s opinions instead of making up their own. This story just reinforced that.”

Viall interviewed Baldoni for his podcast “The Viall Files” in January 2023. As rumors of bad blood between Lively and Baldoni swirled in August 2024, Viall asked why Baldoni had hired a PR crisis manager. Melissa Nathanwho previously represented Johnny Depp during his legal battle with Amber Heard.

“This PR team gutted Amber Heard online,” Viall said via his podcast at the time. “It was a total assault on her character.”

In the interview with Bustle, Viall referred to his previous comments about the Baldoni/Lively feud and said he was just “sharing his opinion.”

“When I shared my opinion on this topic, I didn’t see it as a statement so much; I shared my opinion and challenged my audience to ask themselves different questions,” he explained.

Rumors of a rift between Baldoni and Lively first surfaced in August 2024. during the promotional trail for It ends with us when the couple, who were both the lead actors in the film, were not pressed together.

In December 2024 Lively sues Baldoni for sexual harassment. (Baldoni has denied all the allegations against him made in the lawsuit, which was obtained by Us Weekly.)

It ends with us author Colleen Hoover Lively described as “honest” and “brave” via her Instagram on the same day the case was reported.

Days later, Baldoni was among the 10 plaintiffs who sued for $250 million vs New York Times for coverage of Lively’s allegations. (Speaker of New York Times said us that the outlet plans to “vigorously defend against the lawsuit.”)

Lively sued the same day against Baldoni in New York federal court, which echoes her earlier lawsuits — which were filed with the California Division of Civil Rights.

Baldoni’s atelier filed a new lawsuit on Thursday against Lively, her PR Leslie Sloan, and her husband Ryan Reynoldsseeking $400 million in damages. The suit includes allegations of civil extortion, defamation, invasion of privacy and other claims.
