Ex-NFL star discusses why Deion Sanders should stay in college

After the University of Colorado football program completely turned around, there seems to be some smoke building up Deion Sanders possibly moving to the NFL.

The Dallas Cowboys had contacted Sanders, who all but turned down the opportunity — but he did admit it was “intriguing.”

Sanders himself said he would consider coaching in the NFL if it meant continuing to coach his sons. Shedeur has a chance to be the top selection in this year’s NFL Draft.

But even though the idea of continuing the family affair sounds appealing, one great NFL player says he would rather see Sanders in college, and for a very good reason.

Simply put, Vince Wilfork thinks students need Coach Prime more than professional athletes do.

“He’s more of an asset to the college because he can impact so many young kids,” Wilfork said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital. “Everyone has their own dream, but looking outward, he can impact more lives when it matters than someone making millions of dollars and you can’t reach him. With his leadership, they can get to that point.

“What he stands for can really help those young guys. I’d rather see him help the kids because they need it more than the guys who make millions. I just see him as a pioneer at this level.”

Sanders’ first coaching gig came at Jackson State, and once he got the Colorado job, several players followed, including his sons and Travis Hunter, who became a two-time Heisman Trophy winner this season. Hunter is also slated to be in the top five, as is his quarterback.

When Hunter won the Heisman, he shared a long hug with his coach, crying on his shoulder.
