Dorfman, 37, who gave birth to the child, her first and which she shares with her husband Blaine Harton Dec. 20, 2024 candidly explained her eating regimen through a series of Instagram stories on Thursday, Jan. 9.
Revealing that fans DMed her to see if she breastfed her child, the ex A maiden child describes his situation.
“Well, first of all, my sister and I were formula-fed babies. So I feel like that was always in my plan,” Dorfman said. “And then I would use the breast pump to feed her breast milk, and that way I knew how much she was getting.”
Dorfman said her baby’s unexpected stay in the intensive care unit, where Harper was formula-fed, changed her feeding plans.
“So I was at the hospital trying to pump, but my milk still wasn’t coming in,” Dorfman continued. “She actually did really well on formula, so we brought a lot of that home from the hospital. I tried to express a few times when we got home, but my milk supply still hadn’t come in.”

So, I feel like it kind of stopped the pumping as well.” The reality star was referring to her return to hospital after being discharged after the birth of her baby, as a result of two hematomas, which are closed wounds where blood pools cannot drain, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Dorfman, who married Hart in Italy in May 2023, said she tried to pump “one or two more times” but failed to produce any milk.
“The weird thing is, I’ve never had any pain,” Dorfman added. “I didn’t have any bloating, I didn’t have those side effects that people talk about when they stop pumping. I just skipped that. I don’t know if this is because my breast milk just never came and wouldn’t come or if I somehow missed the window of opportunity or honestly if it’s just the plan making its own plan. But here we are.”
Dorfman added that Harper is thriving as she approaches one month in the world. “I hope this story helps someone,” Dorfman said. “I don’t know why there is so much judgment and stigma when it comes to breastfeeding or formula feeding or not doing one or the other. But this is my story. We stick to it.”
The new mother appeared on Juan Pablo Galavis‘ season 18 of The Bachelor in 2014 before it became the next one Maiden woman. In her season, Dorfman got engaged to Josh Murray only to break up with him months later.
