The Dancing with the stars host took yes Instagram stories on Wednesday, Jan. 8, to share videos of her experience.
“Okay, there’s a fire right next to my house,” Hugh said in a clip recorded at her home. “We’re with friends, but anyone who’s in the Hollywood Hills, I just had this gut feeling that we’re in a bowl with how everything surrounds Hollywood, and now it’s in the center of Hollywood. Everyone should just evacuate. Go, go, go, go, go. Right now.
After sharing this message, Hough updated his followers with a second video, shot in a car. She was with her dog Sunny.
“Sonny and I are safe and we’re driving, but the reason I’m saying ‘evacuate now,’ even if it’s not near you, if you have a place to go, is because: There’s traffic.” And you’ll be stuck in traffic. And that’s not good. So everyone, please stay safe and send prayers to all the first responders and firefighters and just pull together – you know all you can do is be there for each other.”
Meanwhile, large fires continue to blaze devastatingly in Los Angeles, affecting many stars and their homes.
An extreme storm driven by Santa Ana gusts sparked fast-burning brush fires around 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, causing drivers along Sunset Boulevard and Palisades Drive to abandon their cars to seek safety.
On Wednesday evening, a new wildfire, dubbed the Sunset Fire, was burning in the Hollywood Hills, the famed downtown LA neighborhood where the Hollywood Sign is located, according to New York Times. The city issued an evacuation order for area residents, many of whom work in the entertainment industry.
Since the beginning of the crash, including celebrities Paris Hilton, Anna Faris and Billy Crystal they have lost their homes to the fires.
Hilton, 43, said she was “devastated” by the loss of her home.
“Sitting with my family watching the news and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience,” she wrote via Instagram on Wednesday. “This home was where we made so many precious memories.”
