Founder of Barstool Sports Dave Portnoy hopes to set the record straight when it comes to Grace O’Malleythe company’s assumed salary before she left.
Grace continued Theo Vonpodcast on and kind of implied that we didn’t pay her fairly, so I thought I’d just say what she did here so people can decide for themselves,” Portnoy, 47, wrote via TikTok on Tuesday, January 7. “She was in the last year of a 3 year deal.”
According to Portnoy, O’Malley’s base salary was $175,000 a year. In addition, she received 70 percent “of everything we were able to sell on her personal social networks.”
“She got another $75,000 in 2024. in this way,” he further said. “(Her interview) could have been shortened, a little misconstrued, but it really bothers me when people make it seem like they’re not being paid fairly. I think we treated — as I said from the beginning — Grace great.
While appearing on the Monday, January 6 episode of Last Weekend With Theo Von podcastO’Malley opened up about his experience with Barstool Sports before signing the ‘Call Her Daddy’ host Alex Cooper‘s Unwell Network.
“I didn’t do anything when I was there. I had a salary and that was it,” she claims. “I had an opportunity to leave and I took it.”
O’Malley also hinted that her former podcast co-host, Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPagliamake more money than her.
@stoolpresidente Grace came on Theo Von’s podcast and kind of implied that we didn’t pay her fairly, so I thought I’d just say what she did here so people can make up their own minds. She was in the last year of a 3 year contract.
“My friend was paid a little bit more — a lot more,” she said. “I never made any money from (the podcast tour). A bar stool took it. I didn’t care either. I was happy to be there. I was elated to just have the job.”
In response to O’Malley’s remarks, Portnoy said he was referring to his “PlanBri Uncut” podcast co-host Lapalia, 25.
“I know she’s like, ‘My friend did so much more.'” She means Brie, Portnoy said. “Brie was a much bigger personality, a much bigger following, bigger everything, and really, obviously, Grace’s star rose recently with the blowup and everything that happened, but you know, that’s why Brie was paid more.”
Portnoy also pointed out that once Barstool refunds your base salary, “we’ll split every dollar going forward fifty-fifty.”
“I just don’t like it when people make us look like we’re cheating our creators because we’re not,” he added, “and that’s why a lot of them have been with us for over a decade.”
