Borussia Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin says “anything can happen” in the January transfer window but warned the club “will not be carried away” following reports linking them with a loan move for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
Rashford has spoken of his desire to leave Old Trafford for a new challenge after a miserable 18 months in which he struggled to reach top form while also making headlines for various off-pitch incidents.
It has been reported that the player’s entourage have embarked on a European tour that includes stops in Milan and Dortmund to discuss a potential move for Rashford.
Sahin is cautious in activity
Sahin, whose side are sixth in the Bundesliga ahead of their return to action after the winter break this Friday against defending champions Bayer Leverkusen, says any incoming activity must suit the club.
Asked about the window, he said: “Anything can happen. It’s not as easy in winter as it is in summer. We would be willing to do something, but we will only do it if it makes us better. We’re not going to get carried away.”

Rashford can be very expensive
A deal for Rashford would not come cheap, with United reportedly hoping a loan move would see them shed responsibility for most of the forward’s £325,000-a-week wages.
This could prove to be a major deterrent for Dortmund, whose model is to sign younger players with potential and turn them into the polished article.
Dortmund ended the first half of the season out of form with just one win in five games in all competitions.
But Sahin believes the visit of Xabi Alonso’s men will bring out his best players.
“A win would be extremely important for the table,” he added. “We are playing against a top opponent. We have always performed well against these teams so far. We want to get into a flow for the new year with a good game.”
The hosts will be without Waldemar Anton and Almugera Kabar due to illness, Niklas Sule due to injury and Pascal Gross due to suspension.
