The raging Palisades fire destroys the high school featured in several Hollywood films


Palisades Charter High School has gone up in flames as a result of the wildfires raging in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The burning building, a popular location for Hollywood productions, has been badly damaged by the bushfires.

“Palisades Charter High School, an independent high school, is currently inactive. Therefore, no actions specific to students or staff are warranted at this time,” the Los Angeles school system announced.

“Los Angeles Unified will provide all assistance to our Palisades Charter High School students and employees.”

The school shared on their site that they will provide updates on the spring semester schedule. Students and families are advised to avoid the area and adhere to evacuation orders.

“Please stay safe!” the note ended.

Around 5:30 PM PT Tuesday, Palisades Charter High School’s football stadium was partially on fire. The score box was reportedly on fire, with embers swirling around the affected area. The baseball field was destroyed and some buildings were depleted. The wind gust was 35 to 40 km/hour.

Fortunately, the school’s 3,000 students have not returned to school yet as they are currently on winter break.

The horror movie classic ‘Carrie’ and ‘Freaky Friday’ starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis were filmed in high school. The television series “Teen Wolf” was also filmed there.

About 30,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate as wildfires rage through the Pacific Palisades. The inferno destroyed homes in the posh area, including those of celebrities.

The Palisades Firedriven by strong Santa Ana winds, began late Tuesday morning in the Santa Monica Mountains and quickly engulfed 200 acres within an hour, rising to nearly 3,000 acres by sunset, FOX Weather reported.

Celebrities, including Curtis, have shared photos of the “terrifying situation.”

“My community and possibly my house is on fire. My family is safe. A lot of my friends are going to lose their homes,” Curtis said in part. shared a photo from what appears to be a broken window overlooking the raging wildfires.

“If there was ever a need to use the phrase MY HAND IN YOURS, it’s now. Take care of each other. Stay out of the way and let the firefighters do their job. Pray if you believe in it and even if If you do don’t, pray for those who do.”

Reality TV star Spencer Pratt and wife Heidi Montag lost their home in the fire, the couple confirmed on their Snapchat accounts on Tuesday.

In a series of videos ‘The Hills’ star showed the fire moving quickly over the hill toward their property.

“Well, this doesn’t look good,” said Pratt as he filmed the fire on the mountain behind their home. ‘First time I see the flames coming over. Oh man. Okay, I guess I’ll pack.’

Actor Chris Pratt posted on X asking people to join him in praying for “the brave firefighters who sacrifice so much to save our homes and our city.”

Candace Cameron Bure shared a photo of a forest fire online, writing that it was “devastating to see.”

Several other celebrities including Derek Hough of “Dancing with the Stars,” shared photos on his Instagram account of the fire and said he and his wife are preparing to evacuate with their pets.

“The wind is reaching 100 mph, and we are packing up and preparing to evacuate with our five animals JUST IN CASE,” Hough wrote. “It’s scary when power lines explode around us and the fires spread so quickly.”

Firefighter fights a fire

Meanwhile, a fifth wildfire in Southern California – the Woodley Fire – has broken out in Los Angeles County.

The fire started around 6:15 a.m. local time on Wednesday and has so far destroyed about 75 hectares around the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve in Encino, according to Cal Fire.

It is currently zero percent contained.

California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency and warned that the worst gusts of wind were expected between 10pm on Tuesday and 5am on Wednesday.

More than 200,000 people were without power in Los Angeles County on Tuesday evening.
