
Los Angeles amid Tuesday’s storm

An extreme storm driven by Santa Ana gusts sparked fast-burning brush fires around 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, with drivers along Sunset Boulevard and Palisades Drive abandoning their cars to seek safety, according to Los Angeles Times.
Local areas were evacuated, including the celebrity retreat of Pacific Palisades, located about 20 miles west of downtown Los Angeles, where A-list stars are known for their sprawling luxury homes.
Stars included Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper, Reese Witherspoon, Adam Sandler, Michael Keaton, Miles Teller, Michael Mann, Ann Sarnoff, Alan Bergman, Kathleen Kennedy and Carol Lombardini all live in the exclusive enclave.
The mass evacuations, in which more than 30,000 local residents left their homes in search of safer ground, affected Steve Gutenbergwho assisted firefighters by moving abandoned cars to nearby streets to improve emergency access. The Police Academy said the star during an interview with KTLA on Tuesday, “I live right on the hill,” before pointing out the visible flames. “I have friends up there right now and they can’t evacuate because it’s stuck on Palisades Drive. There are families up there, there are pets, there are people who really need help.”
Casino star James Wood was also evacuated from his home, sharing photos and footage of raging flames via X on Tuesday.

The following video was also titled ‘Leaving’, before another post from Woods read: ‘To all the lovely people who have contacted us, thank you for being so concerned. Just to let you know that we were able to evacuate successfully. Right now I don’t know if our home is still standing, but unfortunately the houses on our little street are not.”
Eugene Levy was also evacuated. Speaking of Los Angeles Times by phone on Tuesday, at Sheets Creek star said: “The smoke looked quite black and intense over Temescal Canyon. I could not see any flames, but the smoke was very dark.

Jeremychanphotography/Getty ImagesAccording to The Hollywood ReporterThe National Weather Service called the storm an “Extremely Hazardous Situation … A Red Flag Warning Event.” This type of alert affected Malibu, San Gabriel Valley, San Fernando Valley, Beverly Hills, Hollywood Hills, Santa Monica Mountains, San Gabriel Mountains, East Ventura Valley and coastal areas near Sepulveda Pass, for each outlet.
The Associated Press reported that more than 13,000 buildings were “threatened” and the origin of the fires was not confirmed.
The weather also affected planned important events in the area, including the premieres for Jennifer Lopezis new movie Unstoppableand The wolf man starring Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner.
