Lakers coach JJ Redick, Palisades resident, offers ‘thoughts and prayers’ after family evacuates due to fire


The Pacific Palisades have hit the sports world Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick was immediately affected.

Redick said members of his and his wife’s family are among those evacuated.

The head coach gave his thoughts ahead of his team’s game against the Mavericks in Dallas.

“I just want to acknowledge and send my thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Palisades right now. That’s where I live. Our family, my wife’s family, my wife’s twin sister, they’ve been evacuated,” Redick said. told the media on Tuesday. “I know a lot of people are panicking right now, including my family. It sounds like I know a lot of people are afraid. So I just want to acknowledge that. Thoughts and prayers for sure, and I hope everyone stays safe.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom was near the fire and was informed by authorities, his office said.

Actor James Woods77, was also forced to leave his home.

More than 250 LAFD firefighters battled the blaze, in addition to firefighters from neighboring agencies. About 30 vehicles abandoned at Sunset and Palisades will be moved across the county to provide clear access, the fire department said.

According to a statement from the White House, LA Mayor Karen Bass is currently out of town to attend the inauguration of John Dramani Mahama in Accra, Ghana.

Los Angeles County Lifeguards said elevated fire conditions with dry offshore winds were expected to continue through Wednesday.
