Elon Musk wants to buy Liverpool according to his billionaire father

Errol Musk, the father of billionaire Elon Musk, has suggested his son may be interested in taking over Liverpool.

Speaking on Times Radio, Musk Sr. revealed the family’s connection to the city and shared insights into the tech genius’ potential interest in the Premier League leaders.

Musk Sr. explained the family’s historic ties to Liverpool, as Elon’s paternal grandmother, Cora Amelia Robinson, was born there before moving to South Africa.

“He would like to (buy Liverpool), yes, obviously,” Musk Sr. said. “Anybody would – so would I!

“His grandmother was born in Liverpool and we have relatives in Liverpool. We were lucky enough to meet a lot of Beatles because they grew up with some of my family.

“Well, we’re linked with Liverpool, you know…”

While discussing the idea of a market, Musk Sr. expressed concerns that Fenway Sports Group (FSG), Liverpool’s current owners, could raise the price if they knew of Elon Musk’s interest.

This is not the first time that Musk’s name has been linked to the ownership of a football club. In 2022, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX caused a stir on social media when he tweeted that he was buying Manchester United.

“I’m buying Manchester United for welcome,” Musk wrote, sending fans into a frenzy.

The tweet quickly garnered tens of thousands of retweets and over 200,000 likes. However, he later clarified that it was a joke, replying to a comment on the original post with: “No, this is a long running joke on Twitter. I don’t buy sports teams. Although, if it was any team, it would be Man Utd. They were my favorite team as a kid.

“And I’m not buying Coca-Cola to bring back cocaine, despite the extreme popularity of such a move.”

While Errol Musk’s comments have reignited speculation about Elon Musk’s entry into the world of football ownership, the billionaire has not confirmed any plans to buy Liverpool.

Fans will no doubt be watching closely to see if the Tesla CEO makes a serious move to expand his Premier League empire.
