Wilder returns to the ring this April at BLK Prime

Deontay Wilder will fight at BLK Prime in April against an opponent yet to be determined. Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel will reveal the opponent in Los Angeles on Saturday.

For BLK Prime to get a run for its money, Wilder needs to fight someone the fans care to see. He looked really bad in his last two matches, losing to Zhilei Zhang and Joseph Parker.

Return April

There has been talk of Francis Ngannou fighting Wilder. If this is the opponent, some would like to see the fight because Ngannou gave Tyson Fury a lot of problems. This was a frantic Fury.

Former WBC heavyweight champion Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs) is coming off a fifth-round knockout loss to Zhilei Zhang on June 1 in Riyadh. It was the 39-year-old Deontay’s fourth loss in his last five fights since 2020.

The shots that Zhang hit Wilder with were far more powerful than the slaps that Tyson Fury had in his three fights with him.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ hasn’t looked like the same fighter he once was since he was knocked out by Tyson Fury in the seventh round of their rematch on February 22, 2020.

“Told me @BronzeBomber is coming back for a comeback fight in April at BLK Prime. Wilder and manager Shelley Finkel will meet with the media in Los Angeles on Saturday to announce the opponent,” said Manouk Akopyan. Xtalking about Deontay Wilder’s next fight.

Fans would love to see Deontay wrestle with the same ruthless aggression he had in his prime, but that doesn’t seem likely to happen. He’s nearing 40, extremely wealthy with an estimated net worth of $40 million, and can no longer pull the trigger on his punches.

It’s not that he can’t. He just seems afraid to fly for fear of being caught. So Fury hurt Wilder and it seems he’s having a hard time getting over that terrible experience.

Wilder has won just one fight in the past five years, defeating former sparring partner Robert Helenius by first-round knockout in 2022.
