We’re halfway through the season, and it already feels like Tottenham Premier League the campaign is over.
By Andze Postecoglou side slipped down 12th place after them defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday and are currently 12 points clear of Chelsea in the final guaranteed Champions League point.
However, North Londoners have a League Cup semi-final coming up tomorrow night if FA Cup game on the weekend and remain at Europa Leagueso there’s still plenty to play for.
That said, to have any chance in these competitions, the club need to address their biggest weakness, which is their defence, and based on recent reports, that could happen as they have been linked with someone who could eventually replace Radu Dragusin.
Tottenham transfer news
According to a recent report from Caught OffsideTottenham Hotspur are one of a number of clubs interested in Udinese centre-back Thomas Christensen.
In fact, the report claims that it currently feels the most substantial interest is coming from the North Londoners, although the likes of Leicester City and Bayer Leverkusen are also noted as keen parties.
While the potential competition isn’t ideal, the good news is that, according to history, the promising defender is likely to be available for around £16.5m, which could leave some money for more offers this month .
All in all, this looks like it could be a fairly simple and relatively cheap move to make, and considering Kristensen’s ability, a Spurs should be done, especially since she’d be a dream upgrade on Dragusin.
How does Kristensen compare to Dragusin
So the first thing to say is that given the importance of both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven to Postecoglou’s system, the former for his leadership and experience and the latter for his lightning speed and decision making, Kristensen wouldn’t sign as genuine competition for them.
Instead, the Denmark international would almost certainly be seen as a rival to Dragusin to be the team’s first choice, and based on their respective campaigns this season, it would be a contest that the Udinese ace would win.
Now, given where they play, we can’t show this with goals and assists like we would with an attacking player, but instead, we can see the Dane’s superiority by comparing their numbers.

For example, according to FBref, the Aarhus-born titan comes out ahead in the vast majority of relevant metrics, including but not limited to forward passes and carries, key passes, tackles, tackles won, clearances, aerial duels and makes fewer errors leading to in shot, all per 90.
Furthermore, as well as being far more impressive from a statistical point of view, the 22-year-old should be able to add more physical stature to the Lilywhites’ backline.
For example, he stands at a whopping 6ft 6 to the Romanian’s 6ft 3, and according to respected analyst Ben Mattinson;is “a unit in the back.”
Ultimately, while Dragusin can be a scapegoat for Spurs at times, he is clearly not of the level required to cover for Romero and Van de Ven, while Kristensen looks like he could be.
As such, Daniel Levy and Co. will have to act fast to get him this month before someone beats them to it.
