“At this point…” – the Liverpool star once again talks about the contract

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has spoken about the status of his long-term contract, saying he does not have any kind of update at the moment.

The Netherlands international remains a hugely important player for Liverpool and fans will no doubt be desperate to see him commit to his future at the club.

The Liverpool players had to be separated in a huge row after the Manchester United game!

However, Van Dijk has been asked about his Liverpool deal, which is due to expire at the end of the season, several times this season and his answer has been pretty much the same each time.

Watch below as Fabrizio Romano reports on Van Dijk as he once again says he has no major updates to talk about…

Van Dijk said: “Nothing (in the contract). But I’m calm about it, as I said months ago. We will see what happens in the future and at this point I have absolutely no information.”

LFC certainly need to keep hold of the 33-year-old, who remains one of the best defenders in the world, but this is another major saga that just seems to continue.

Can Liverpool keep hold of their stars?

As well as Van Dijk, Liverpool also have Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold set to be free in a few months.

It would be an absolute disaster for the Reds to lose all three of these big names for nothing, and it is quite baffling that the club have allowed it to get to this point.

Fabrizio Romano recently said CaughtOffside that Liverpool were confident about Van Dijk and Salah, so fans will have to hope that there will be a more concrete update on that soon.

Alexander-Arnold’s situation looks perhaps less optimistic from Liverpool’s point of view, with Real Madrid pushing to sign the England international as their top right-back target.
