Jimenez goals earn points for home side… but striker calls result ‘very bad’

Raul Jimenez scored two second-half penalties as Fulham twice came from behind to deny Ipswich Town a win that would have lifted them out of the Premier League’s relegation zone at Craven Cottage – but the striker said the result was ” two lost points”.

Jimenez first equalized for Fulham in the 69th minute after Harry Wilson was adjudged to have been fouled by Sam Morsi following a check on the pitch monitor by referee Darren Bond.

Ipswich, who had taken the lead through Sammie Szmodics’ 38th-minute strike from inside the box, restored their lead almost immediately when Liam Delap’s spot-kick for his seventh goal of the season was awarded for a challenge on the striker from Timothy Castagne.

Fulham secured a point with Jimenez’s impressively cool penalty a minute from full time, converting after Leif Davies fell.

“We have to look forward and go again,” Jimenez said, telling Sky Sports the result was “very bad” despite scoring his ninth goal of the season.

“We have to start doing it from the start (of matches) – to score first and not fall behind in the final minutes. We have to keep improving in 2025. I’m happy to score but, to win games, we have to keep (clean sheets).”

Things almost got worse for Fulham 25 seconds before Jimenez’s second goal when Jack Clarke’s shot hit the post for Ipswich.
