The movie Maid in Manhattan has captivated rom-com lovers for the past 20 years.
In the 2002 film Marisa Ventura (Jennifer Lopez) plays a single mother who works as a maid in an upscale Manhattan hotel and dreams of a better life for her son Ty (Tyler Posey). She meets Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes), the heir to a political dynasty, who turns out to be Marissa’s guest at the hotel. After a romantic evening together, the couple falls in love. However, once Marissa’s identity is revealed, they both realize that they both come from very different worlds.
Maid in Manhattan is based on the true story of Stephen Clarkeson of the governor of New York Nelson Rockefellerwho got married Anne-Marie Rasmussena maid working in the family hotel in 1959.
Twenty years after the film hit theaters, Fiennes revealed this during filming Maid in Manhattanhe was caught with Lopez by the paparazzi and it was over acting as bait to the public to hide the early days of her and Ben Affleck’s connection.
“I was set,” the Grand Budapest Hotel the actor shared during an appearance in November 2022 Watch what’s happening live with Andy Cohen. “They invited me to dinner with JLo and her manager and her agent… We had a nice dinner, chatty chat… (After that) I think I was going home, but (we gave each other) a peck on the cheek good night. But somehow the shots were angled, so as she walks away, (it seems) I’m walking behind her.
