Gautam Gambhir faces a lot of criticism for India’s poor performance in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Many hold coach Gautam Gambhir responsible for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy defeat. The tactics adopted by the Indian National Cricket Team have been questionable and even the team selection has been unimpressive throughout the series.

The Indian National Cricket Team batsmen have struggled to be consistent throughout the series. In the bowling department too, it seemed that it was only Jasprit Bumrah who was carrying the team as he hardly got any support in the phases when the team had a chance to gain momentum.

While India’s performance throughout the series was poor, there was also some off-field drama. As per the reports, coach Gautam Gambhir wanted the team to play his way and told the players to limit their natural tactics as well.

With India being outclassed by Australia, Parth Jindal made a bold remark, saying that nothing was right for the team. While criticizing Gautam Gambhir, he said BCCI should separate the coaching staff for the two formats. Through his Twitter account he said:

“No doubt that Australia have been the better team throughout this series – the Indian team selection, batting display and off-field drama has not been up to the mark. Time for the selectors, the board and the think tank to realize that red-ball cricket and white-ball cricket and its coaching staff should be separated.”
