Christina Aguilera shuts down haters as Ozempic rumors swirl

Christina Aguilera kicks off the new year with an important message.

On Tuesday, the Grammy Award winner posted a video montage her Instagram with several images of herself throughout the year and a slew of comments from online haters questioning her physical appearance rumors from Ozempic usage. In the caption, Aguilera reminded her ten million followers that judgments are inevitable, but “no one deserves an explanation.”

“This year we’re doing something different. This reminds everyone that you are your OWN STORYTELLER in your OWN LIFE,” she wrote. ‘No one else can dictate who you are. No one deserves an explanation. I’m educated enough to know that nothing comes easy and no one is perfect.”

‘Everyone will judge you. It doesn’t matter WHAT you do,” she continued. “And/or what you don’t do. Acceptance means first accepting yourself. And the difficult journey it sometimes takes to get there. I celebrate that everyone takes the time to take one step before the next every day in order to achieve the next version of themselves for the better. Give yourself grace, patience and respect.”

Although Aguilera’s appearance has sparked debate online about whether she has become involved with Ozempic, the “Beautiful” singer has not addressed the speculation directly.

Ozempic, a semaglutide injection, was originally approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, but the drug is increasingly being prescribed off-label for weight loss, along with several other similar medications.

“As a teenager you have a very different body than when you are in your twenties,” she says told Glamour. “I started stuffing, and then that was unacceptable, because it was like, ‘Oh, she’s getting fatter.’ Then I had industry people saying, ‘They loved your body and how you were as a skinny teenager.'”

“I’m at a maturity now where I just don’t give a fuck about your opinion,” she added. ‘I’m not going to take it upon myself. It should be your responsibility to take your space. Other people’s opinions of me are none of my business.’

In May 2021, Aguilera said Health magazine how that particular pressure affected her sense of self as a young woman.

“I would never want to relive my 20s. You’re so in your own head and finding your confidence,” Aguilera said. “As you get older, you stop comparing yourself to other people and start to appreciate and own your own body.”

“Accepting yourself is what beauty is really about,” she added. “As much as I love being a glamor girl and playing dress-up in front of the camera, when it all works out, that’s ultimately what’s most satisfying: being able to feel good about who’s looking back at you in the mirror, because you own it all. “
