Armie Hammer looking back at accusations of cannibalism which effectively ended his Hollywood career four years ago.

The Wednesday, January 1st episode of Your Mother’s House podcast, hosted by Christina Pazizzi and Tom SeguraHammer admitted it was a “wild time.”
“Covid was happening, people were locked in their apartments, people were miserable,” Hammer, 38, said. “All this was happening. The world seemed to be falling apart. And people were deeply dissatisfied with their own lives. And then there’s this raunchy story where this actor wants to kill and eat people, and suddenly everyone’s like, “Oh, that’s a lot more fun to focus on than the fact that I can’t leave my living room .” Everyone said, “Let’s think about this story.”
He continued: “I think I was just in full panic mode. There would be articles in the Punjabi Times about how I was a cannibal and all that stuff. I think in March 2021. I was the fifth most searched person on Google in the world. And it was all negative.
“Suddenly you’re left standing there naked in front of the world with all your tendencies or distortions being judged by the world,” Hammer added, appearing to take ownership of at least some of the graphic messages attributed to him at the time. “That’s hard.”

After becoming a star following her role in The social network and other big blockbusters, Hammer said he struggled to maintain his clean Hollywood image. At the time Hammer was married to Elizabeth Chamberswith whom he has two children, daughter Harper, 10, and son Ford, 7. He said his behavior on social media is in some ways a response to how he feels.
“I think somewhere deep down, subconsciously, I wanted to get caught. So I didn’t relate to the image of me that was out there in society. Like, “Look at them, they’re like the Ralph Lauren family. They have the perfect life, the perfect house and the perfect kids,” Hammer explained. “I thought, ‘I feel like an alien.’ I ‘liked’ pictures of rope bondage on my Twitter. It was like I was blowing the whistle on him, if you will, and wanted to get caught. People would say, “I don’t think he knows his Twitter likes are public.” I saw that and I was like, “I know.”
Hammer addressed the public response to his alleged direct messages and said his conversations had been taken out of context.
He said: “If someone took someone’s bedroom conversations, especially if people were having a bit of a sexy time, and they took the crap they said, even if it was completely vanilla, and you read that somewhere else out of context, I’d all be like, ‘Guys , you are disgusting.”
