Eddie Hearn highlights how Tyson Fury’s 3-month marital ‘sacrifice’ could affect Oleksandr Usyk fight

Tyson Fury is targeting an unparalleled level of focus heading into his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21. The pair previously faced off on May 18 in an undisputed heavyweight title match. Fury was defeated for the first time in his career after losing a close split.

Ahead of their rematch, ‘The Gypsy King’ stated that he has not spoken to his wife for three months as part of his plan to prepare for the Ukrainian. Fury’s admission caught fans by surprise and speculated that his decision to isolate himself from family members may backfire.

However, top boxing promoter Eddie Hearn believes it could have the desired effect. The Matchroom Boxing president was recently interviewed by iFL TV ahead of Usyk vs. Fury 2, where she discussed the British woman’s comments that she had no contact with his wife.

Hearn said:

“Everybody’s different, and when you’ve had that loss, maybe it doesn’t leave anything on him. He just says, ‘I’m going to put everything into this training camp.’ and sometimes horrible sacrifices, you think that gives you more power in the fight, I think the answer is yes.”
