At least 10 people were killed and dozens injured after a driver allegedly drove a car into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, authorities said.
The driver reportedly exited the vehicle and fired a weapon after striking the crowd. A large police presence was reported at the scene.
“There has been a mass casualty incident at Canal and Bourbon Street. Get out of the area,” NOLA Ready announced on social media.
“The 8th Precinct is currently working on a mass casualty incident involving a vehicle driving into a large crowd at Canal and Bourbon streets,” city officials said.
NOLA City’s website states that 30 injured patients were transported by NOEMS and 10 fatalities.
The incident happened around 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of Bourbon Street and Iberville, a local news station WGNO reports this.
Police have not yet confirmed how many victims were involved in the incident.
