President Donald Trump will not be at the 4-country face-off championship between Team USA and Canada on Thursday, but he will be the Americans gave a phone call in advance.
After posting the Truth Social, where he again declared Canada “Will one day, perhaps fast, our … fifty first is,” Trump called the team while they were in the wares in the Dressing room of TD Garden In Boston the morning of the game.
“It was so great to get his support,” said JT Miller, one of the three Americans who dropped the gloves in the first USA-Canada Bout, Thursday, via Via Athletics. “It’s a pretty big problem for him to take time out of his schedule to talk to us for five minutes. It is just one of those things that we squeeze this tournament a bit.”

Bill Guerin, general manager of Team USA, said that Trump dropped a 51st state reference to the team.
“But I would just try to concentrate on the message he gave us,” said Guerin. “I said it before: we are here to play hockey. This is not a political forum. This is a hockey tournament. And he just tries to support the best way he could, and we appreciate it.”
Guerin added: “He was just very supportive and just said:” Hey, you are going to do it great. It will be a great game. Just relax and play. “
“It is the president of the United States,” defender Brock Faber added. “If you are a child, you never think that will be a possibility. It was really cool.”

Rivalry between the US and Canada is central to 4 nations face-off final: what about it
“It’s nice, pretty wild, and it’s an honor for all of us here to represent your country and get a phone call from the president,” said Forward Brock Nelson. “Also, I think, I think, it’s a big game, not only for hockey, but also for outside the game. It is something we will remember.”
Matt Boldy added: “Of course he is a very influential person in the world. It is special. I think it is talking about how good the tournament has been for hockey and the exposure given to a new group of fans.”
The rivalry extends more than enough time, but with political tensions between the two countries it is now hotter than ever before. Canada has a 13-4-1 record about Team USA in best-to-best format, including two Olympic gold medal victories (2002 and 2010) and an Olympic semi-final of 2014.
