Football manager 25 has been canceled after the creators of the game, Sports Interactive, admitted that the scheduled “technical and visual progress” would not be ready in time.
The FM series is the most popular football simulation game in the world and its fans are eagerly awaiting the 2025 version, but a series of failures had repeatedly seen delay.
And SI confirmed today that they were exhausted.

In a statement, they said: “The athletic interactive regret to inform that, after extensive internal discussion and careful examination with SEGA, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Director of Football 25 and shift our focus to the next release.
“We know that this will come as a huge frustration, especially as the release date has already moved twice, and you have eagerly predicted the first game revelation.
“We have always boasted of delivering the best value for money games that bring you countless hours of enjoyment, they feel worth every moment and every penny you spend. With the release of FM25 we started creating the biggest technical and visual progress of the series for a generation , by placing the building blocks for a new era.
“Due to a variety of challenges we have opened to date and many other unpredictables, we have not achieved what we have begun to do in several areas of the game, despite our team’s apparent efforts. Every decision to delay the liberation was made to reach the Closer to the desired level, but as we approached the critical milestones in the series of the year, it became clearly clear that we would not achieve the required standard, even with the custom timetable.
“We could push, release FM25 in the current situation and determine things below the line – but this is not the right thing to do. We were also reluctant to go beyond a March release as It would be too late in the football season to wait for the players to buy another game later in the year. “
SI says they remain optimistic to respond to the deadline for the release of FM26.
