David Benavidez’s match against former regular WBA heavyweight champion David Morrell Prime video at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
@Danrafael1 reports the PPV numbers for the Benavidez-Morrell match, which was amazingly good for an event that had $ 79.95. This is a sharp price compared to how low the events of the Riyad era are sold. Benavidez was recorded by the heavy punches by Morrell and was lucky to have suffered significant cuts during the action.
It is not clear whether the success of the event was due to the “Mexican monster” Benavidez (30-0, 24 kos) only or in combination with Cuban Morrell and some of the Undercard matches.
Benavidez defeated Morrell (11-1, 9 kos) with a unanimous 12-round decision with scores 118-108, 115-111 and 115-111. It was a narrow struggle in reality, but Benavidez’s body perforated and its pressure was the differences.
If Benavidez can beat the winner of the February 22 match between the undisputed lightweight heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, his popularity will pass through the roof. He will not have to continue to push Canelo Alvarez and sound obsessed with him.
There is a good chance that Beterbiev will be the one that Benavidez faces for the four zones and this will be interesting to see how he is involved in his power. He will not be able to enjoy the same success inside Beterbiev as he did against Morrell because he struggles well.
We still do not know how soon Benavidez will have the opportunity to fight for the zones. It may require to get a tuned up if Beterbiev-Bivol chooses to fight a trilogy.

Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz vs. Angel Fierro
